 It is not just California farming that Italian farm machinery manufacturers are interested in. Many of the companies exhibiting at the recent 34th annual International Agricultural and Gardening Machinery Exhibition (EIMA) in Bologna, Italy left no doubt that the U.S. is a key market for them. Many like Tonutti have been aggressively marketing their equipment in the U.S. and around the world. They view the U.S. as one of the more positive markets right now.EIMA, organized by Italian National Union of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers, featured more than 1,700 exhibitors (1,100 Italian manufacturers) buychainsawsharpeningguage in more than 20 giant exhibit halls totaling more than 1.6 million square feet housing buychainsawsharpeningguage 22,000 machinery models and innumerable other suppliers of agricultural parts and services. More than 100,000 people visit the show annually. The MorElectric system began lab tests in 2002, and is currently testing in on-highway truck applications. Commercial production buychainsawsharpeningguage is expected in early 2005. Caterpillar expects the system to be used in a variety of trucks as well as off-highway, marine and military applications as well. Ort said Caterpillar is looking for partners for market exposure and field validation testing opportunities beginning this September.The development of the system grew, in part, out of a Dept. of Energy (DOE) program called "Parasitic Energy Loss Reduction and Enabling Technologies for Class 7/8 Trucks." This 42 month, $4.4 million research program started in May 2000 and brought together Cat Electronics, Kenworth Truck, Engineered Machined Products, a major supplier of water pumps to the heavy-duty diesel business, and Emerson Electric. Engineered buychainsawsharpeningguage to operate on diesel fuel and light fuels such as JP-8 and kerosene, the DE Series units are designed for Euro 2 and EPA Tier I and Tier 2 emissions regulations. Plans also call for continued DE pump development to assist engine manufacturers in achieving Tier 3 emission regulations in 2006.The pumps are offered in three design configurations with progressively added features, according to Joseph Paganini, product manager, Electronic Pump Products, for the Windsor, Conn.-based fuel systems manufacturer.
