As the vehicle decelerates, the ECU senses when any wheel is decelerating too rapidly, indicating that the wheel is approaching lockup. When the wheel deceleration rate changes, air pressure is restored. The sequence occurs in microseconds. End result is smooth stopping of semi-combination vehicles in a straight line.
