He is president of SSOE Gateway, chainsaw accessories a sarasota, poulan fla., engineering design and construction firm that is helping bring the valve to market. pressure variation in city water systems is a given, and that raises questions about the efficacy 2150 and chainsaw of sanitation washdowns with automated systems. if pressure drops below the preset threshold, the cf valve will automatically shut down, preventing the cip system from poulan completing its cycle under less than optimal conditions. so in march 2000, braswell founded powerhouse 2150 equipment, which he hopes will become "the leading national direct provider of compact hydraulic chainsaw equipment."a multi-market opportunity for lawn/garden professionals?braswell thinks so. he''s established dealerships in sacramento, dallas poulan and austin, texas; jacksonville and orlando, fla.; and charlotte and raleigh/durham, n.c. in addition, he''s created satellite sales in eight other locations.why? "contractors'' employee time is extremely valuable," says braswell. "our equipment makes each worker much more efficient."what trends does braswell see in ope marketing?"in the last few years, we''ve seen lots of power equipment dealers concentrate on the professional customer rather than the consumer," braswell says. "with that comes focus on a service department that offers really quick turn-around, so the busy landscaper avoids downtime. if a dealer sells to landscapers -- and knows their needs -- he might sell similar products to tree professionals, irrigators, nursery people and fencers. it''s 2150 not like the l.a. car scene, where you chainsaw are what you drive," says sherri walker, editor and publisher of the catalina islander. a quiet woman with short blond hair, she sits on a bench by the sand, steps from her office door. she looks up poulan avalon''s main street at the line of nearly identical white golf carts parallel-parked nose-to-tail along the curb. "no one points and says, `wow, look at that golf cart.''"in 1979, suffering from choking traffic congestion and a critical shortage of parking, this mile-and-a-half-square town passed city ordinance no. 2150 656, mandating negative population growth for cars; two must leave catalina island before another is allowed on. "the last person to get a new auto permit signed up 13 years earlier," says bill loomis, the harried local vehicle clerk, "and chainsaw the wait is getting longer." only 718 cars remain, but the ordinance does permit one "autoette," in official parlance, per dwelling unit, so avalon has slowly become a city of golf carts. about 1,300 populate the town.
